Dot spent the first 18 years of her life just outside of Coolville Ohio, where she attended school in the Eastern Local School District. Although not raised in a Christian family, she faithfully attended church, giving her heart to Jesus at the age of 14. After graduating from high school, she spent 1½ years at Ohio University in Athens. She then ventured to Kentucky to attend Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute, graduating with an Associate’s degree in Theology, majoring in Christian education. Soon after, God sent the love of her life to her . . . Mike Norman. They were wed in 1982 and have actively served in three area churches.  They started attending Bethel in 1997 and are dedicated members of the church.

Never having any experiences with small children and not being raised in a loving atmosphere, Dot vowed never to work with kids (or have anything to do with them!) However, God had other plans. When a children’s church teaching position came open at Bethel in 2003, Dot took the dive into ministry. God changed her heart from one of fear and doubtfulness to one of love and enthusiasm for reaching kids for Christ. Definitely a radical heart operation!
