Theology, Vision, Structure of BWC Life Groups

Theology of Life Groups

  • God is an eternal community:(small group) of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and He made us in His image (Genesis 1:26). This means you were designed to live life in community with others.
  • The Connection of Vertical and Horizontal Relationships: the command to love God is sewn together with the command to love others (Matthew 22:37-40). That means that we will experience more of God, the more we experience community with others.
  • Our church, communities, and world need this: Christian witness is only as powerful as the love demonstrated in community with one another. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Small

groups give us the opportunity to demonstrate this kind of love to the outside world as we connect in community with one another, grow spiritually together, and serve our church, community, and world together.

Our  Vision for BWC Life Groups

  • To progressively develop small group opportunities for the purpose of creating community among members of BWC in a relational context of accountability and connectivity.
  • To have a means of measurably identifying the spiritual growth of BWC members.
  • To develop an ongoing unified group of well-trained facilitators who will help create and maintain a relational environment for discipleship to occur.

BWC Groups Structure

  • Spiritual Growth Groups: Following a 12 week membership course where the basic doctrines of the Bible are taught, participants are then encouraged to join a Life Group where they explore the essentials to having a healthy, spiritual life and form a community for support. Anyone can attend a Life Group, however, all attendees are encouraged to take the membership course to further their spiritual growth and knowledge of the doctrine of BWC.
  • BWC Life Groups: groups are organized to meet the needs of the individual group. They can be organized by similarity: (Men’s groups, Women’s groups, Couples groups, Singles groups, and Mixed Couple and Singles’ groups).  We have on-campus and off-campus groups that meet throughout the week in homes/restaurants/coffee shops, etc.

Groups are provided with a list of approved Life Group curriculum choices.  Life Groups meet from February through November with a congregational gathering once every other month.

Our 3 Life Group Values

  • Connect: A Life Group where we are connected in community by fellowshipping and providing care for one another so that no one stands alone (Fellowship).
  • Grow: A Life Group where we grow together by applying God’s Word to our lives (Education) by studying the curriculum and responding to God’s presence by praying, singing (optional), and praising together (Worship).
  • Serve: A Life Group that serves one another by shared leadership and serves together through service projects on mission to our church, community, and world (Outreach).
